Holasová, Anežka ; Oulíková, Petra (advisor) ; Vymazalová, Marie (referee)
Fresco works by Lukáš Vávra in South Bohemia This diploma thesis is devoted to the work of the late Baroque fresco painter, and Vyšší Brod Cistercian, Lukáš Vávra. His artistic legacy has not yet been documented in its entirety, nor has it been examined historically. This thesis is the first effort in this direction. It is based on data drawn mainly from the Historical Archive of the Vyšší Brod Monastery, as well as from other archival sources. Vávra's works are included in this discussion, especially the frescoes in the monasteries of Vyšší Brod and Zlatá Koruna, as well as framed paintings that have been preserved. With the help of relevant respected sources, Vávra's artistic endeavors are then placed in the cultural and historical context of Southern Bohemia. This relates primarily to the Schwarzenberg Dominions in South Bohemia as well as the environment of the South Bohemian Cistercian monasteries in Vyšší Brod and in Zlatá Koruna.
The symbolism in Michelangelo's The Last Judgement
LAZÁRKOVÁ, Simona
This bachelor thesis named "The Symbolism in Michelangelo's The Last Judgement" is compiled as a theoretically-practical thesis. The theoretical part is based on a description of Michelangelo's most important work and it deals with an analysis of individual parts of the fresco and an interpretation of Dante's Divine Comedy in greater depth. The practical part of the thesis is an authorial realisation of illustrations for a text of Dante's Divine Comedy and draws on sources of inspiration from authorial work of foreign and Czech artists. The resulting art artefact consists of a set of sketch material and 6 final illustrations processed using the drawing-graphic technique of a wash ink drawing. The thesis is also enriched by attached pictures of individual details of scenes of the work The Last Judgement by Michelangelo Buonarroti and also work of artists who illustrated Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri.
